| This is going to be one eventful and interesting new year. I'm going into the new year married and unemployed and while Michael seems to be in the process of moving from job immediately into another, there really is not 100% certainty there will be a job for him to move to. Our lease is up in May and while we hoped to attempt to look for a house to buy, that thought is no longer up for consideration. On the good side, I have had time to experiment with baking (which I really enjoy) and for sitting in the sun or napping with Beatrice. For the first time, being unemployed with no current prospects of a job, doesn't scare me to the point of despair. If I pick up a few cleaning jobs here and there we can scrape by until I find a permanent job. We were able to drive to Ocala last weekend to see my grandfather who is recovering from a bypass done the week before Christmas. I haven't made any jewelry since our wedding in June but I really think that soon I'm going to start working on it again. I have been saving up for a week long metalsmith class at a folk art school called John C. Campbell outside of Murphy, NC. I still don't have all that I'll need for tuition, room and board but the class I want to take isn't until September. I really wasn't sure how well I'd adjust to the whole married life thing and though it hasn't been easy to go from independent singleness to unselfish wife its been going well. Not that I'm now a perfect and unselfish wife, I'm very stubborn in my ways, but I've come a long way since last January. I love my cat, even we she doesn't stop meowing until I pick her up. It'll be interesting to see how things are a year from now.

| Today, on Michael's lunch break, we picked up our new cat from the Humane Society. She is a very pretty, 2 1/2 year old calico, who came with the name Friskers, but we have now changed it to Beatrice. She will take a little while to adjust since she has been living in a room with 6 or more other cats for at least the last 4 months. She has spent a lot of time behind the couch but she loves people too much to stay by herself, so she comes out occasionally to be petted by Michael (who started working from home 3 days a week) and I. I'm so excited about having a cat in my house!

| I'm no longer Emily Miller. Its strange knowing that when people say Emily Henry, they will be referring to me. I decided that I couldn't bare to drop any of my names so tomorrow I'm going to the Social Security place to become Emily Paige Miller Henry. Its all so strange but really great at the same time.

| Around 2:00 yesterday I had all four of my wisdom teeth removed. I've been in and out of sleep for the last 24 hours and I think I'm going to cut this entry short so I can go back to my sleep. Everything went fine and I have pain medicine that works pretty well, even though it makes walking to the toilet a pretty interesting experience.
