Campbell outside of Murphy, NC. I still don't have all that I'll need for tuition, room and board but the class I want to take isn't until September. I really wasn't sure how well I'd adjust to the whole married life thing and though it hasn't been easy to go from independent singleness to unselfish wife its been going well. Not that I'm now a perfect and unselfish wife, I'm very stubborn in my ways, but I've come a long way since last January. I love my cat, even we she doesn't stop meowing until I pick her up. It'll be interesting to see how things are a year from now.
Kitty Kitty

Today, on Michael's lunch break, we picked up our new cat from the Humane Society. She is a very pretty, 2 1/2 year old calico, who came with the name Friskers, but we have now changed it to Beatrice. She will take a little while to adjust since she has been living in a room with 6 or more other cats for at least the last 4 months. She has spent a lot of time behind the couch but she loves people too much to stay by herself, so she comes out occasionally to be petted by Michael (who started working from home 3 days a week) and I. I'm so excited about having a cat in my house!

Tuesday, July 08, 2008

I'm no longer Emily Miller. Its strange knowing that when people say Emily Henry, they will be referring to me. I decided that I couldn't bare to drop any of my names so tomorrow I'm going to the Social Security place to become Emily Paige Miller Henry. Its all so strange but really great at the same time.
Thursday, July 19, 2007

I'm going to Kenya!

Thursday, 7/19 - fly out of Atlanta at 1:20 pm

Friday, 7/20 - arrive in Nairobi at 8:50 pm, Kenya time (2:50 pm eastern time)

I've been in and out of sleep for the last 24 hours and I think I'm going to cut this entry short so I can go back to my sleep. Everything went fine and I have pain medicine that works pretty well, even though it makes walking to the toilet a pretty interesting experience.
Tuesday, March 20, 2007

I got a phone call from a lady at the church on Friday telling me that if I was still interested in going to Kenya I could go with them. So it looks like I'll be going to Kenya for 15 days over the summer. I'll probably be working with children in the slums or doing art with handicapped children and I'll get to go on a day long safari as well. I filled out all the paper work and had my picture taken so I can get my passport. I'm so exhausted, I want to sleep for days.
Monday, February 26, 2007

I haven't posted much lately. I started teaching a class one day a week at an assisted living facility. Its interesting to spend a teaching art to 2 and 3 year olds and 7 and 8 year olds and then switch to teaching people over 65. I've taught two classes and I really like it. I have two more classes to teach and then the lady is going to decide if she wants me to continue teaching or not. On Thursday I had a really frustrating experience where insurance refused to pay for my medication even after the doctor called and tried telling them that it was important that I take Cymbalta and not some other type of antidepressant. Apparently they want a record of all the different types I've taken and since I have used different doctors my current doctor only has record of the one I'm taking now. So, supposedly after I have my old doctor send my new doctor my records and insurance sees proof that I have tried other medications, then they are willing to cover the Cymbalta. By the end of Thursday I was feeling very frustrated and annoyed with the pharmacy, the doctor and the insurance company, especially since I had taken my last pill that morning. So the nurse told me I could stop by the office that evening and she would set aside some more samples for me, which was fine except that the office was 30 minutes away. However, the engine in Michael's car blew up that morning on his way to work and I had to drive up past the doctors office to pick him up after I got off of work so the driving turned out to not be out of my way. Plus, when I got to the doctors and gave the nurse my name, she handed me a plastic bag with two months worth of free samples. After spending many hours feeling frustrated with the doctor I was quickly very happy with the doctor and felt like it was her way of saying "Screw the insurance company, you're getting you're medicine any way, " which made me feel so much better about the whole situation.
Friday, February 23, 2007

I have a boyfriend and his name is Michael Henry!
Friday, February 16, 2007

I'm tired, I have a mile long list of things to do, I have no motivation and so I'm going to go to bed now. With the help of an amazing pill called Lunesta I will go to sleep and stay asleep for at least 8 hours, none of this stupid waking up 20 times during the night. I have one week left of my Cymbolta samples so I went to fill my prescription only to find out that the insurance company refuses to pay for it until they have talked to my doctor. Apparently my medication costs $140 a bottle so they don't want to give it to me unless the doctor says I really need it. I think I'm going on a 15 day missions trip to Nairobi, Kenya in July. I went to the meeting tonight. My church is going to cover half of the cost for the members who go. I need to think about it a little more and talk to my boss, but I really want to do it.
Wednesday, February 14, 2007
